The recent phone hacking scandal in the UK has Chinese netizens casting doubt over the "freedom of the press" upheld by Western media organizations. The scandal at Rupert Murdoch’s International News Corp, in which the company hacked phone lines and paid police for stories, has netizens questioning the moral integrity of the western press. Some netizens have urged domestic media to clean up their own reporting practices, even calling for tighter media restrictions. – Tatumn Walter
