Liu Xiaobo was officially placed under arrest Wednesday after six months of house arrest in an undisclosed location with no formal charge. A political dissident, Liu was arrested for allegedly attempting to overthrow the Chinese government, and has been put in custody one day before the release of his manifesto demanding large-scale reforms for the nation. He is the first high-profile activist arrested since before the 2008 Olympics. --posted by Jenny McCorkle
