Taiwan finally gets close to the action

After more than ten years of effort to become a member of the World Health Organization, Taiwan was welcomed as an observer for the first time at a World Health Assembly (WHA) session in Geneva on Monday. Mainland China assisted Taiwan in applying to attend WHA under the name "Chinese Taipei". Though polls show that many Taiwanese support these actions, there is strong protest from the pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party. -posted by Jenny McCorkle
