Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario says China’s unwillingness to bring their dispute with the Philippines to the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea independent judicial body ITLOS implies that China doesn’t think it can validate its territorial claims. China stresses that the dispute should be resolved through communication between directly involved countries. The Philippines for their part rejected China’s 9-dash claim based upon historic rights, saying it is not applicable.
